Guillermo Romo: “Barça is not as bad as it seems”

Guillermo Fernandez Romo, coach of the Cornellà, considered that “Barça is not as bad as it seems” in the press conference prior to the confrontation tomorrow Thursday with the team of Ronald Koeman in the round of 16 Copa del Rey.

“Barcelona is going through some exceptional situations, but for me it comes from a very good dynamic. In the 89th minute they had the final of the Spanish Super Cup won,” added the coach of the blanquiverde team.

In any case, he thought that Barça's game against Athletic Club should not serve as a reference for Cornellà: “The context is very different and there will be seven or eight players that he lined up on Sunday who will not be in the starting eleven.”

For the coach of the Verdiblanco team, the possibilities of his team go through being able to “play in the field of Barcelona and make them feel threatened”. In addition, he said that they should attack them “so that they do not get a lot of regularity with the ball”, something that he considered they achieved against Atlético de Madrid in the second round.

Regarding casualties due to positive coronavirus from Cornellà, blunt reported that finally “two players are affected” and that they are harmed “even more by injuries, such as Adrián Jiménez”, precisely the author of the historic goal against Atlético who gave the pass to the Blanquiverdes and that the cruciate ligament was torn in the match against Nàstic.

blunt He also referred to the absence of Leo Messi after knowing that he will be sanctioned for two games: “My perception is that he would not have played against us even if he had not been sanctioned, but obviously that there is not a player of that level increases our chances.”

He also appeared at a press conference Eloy Gila, the captain of Cornellà. Gila admitted that “the chances of eliminating Barcelona are small”, but considered that “there are, as was seen before Atlético de Madrid”.

In addition, he said that possible players who will be part of Barça's starting eleven against Cornellà, such as Riqui Puig and Ronald Araujo, “are very talented and know what it is to play here.”
