Griezmann avoids the Ibizan debacle at the last minute
The Frenchman doubled, in two shots on goal, and went back to avoid extra time
BARCELONA, Jan. 22 (SportsFinding) –
Barça have won this Wednesday at UD Ibiza (1-2) in Can Misses to go to the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, in a tight victory and on the clock thanks to two shots of an Antoine Griezmann that appeared little but being lethal to trace the initial goal of the locals, who were very close to give the bell.
Ibiza was better despite losing. Barça passes round thanks to the double of the Frenchman, but the truth is that he suffered to impose himself on an Ibiza that made a great first half and that touched an extension in which anything could have happened. But Griezmann scored in his two shots, of the few that Barça had, to put the Blaugrana in the round of 16.
Those of Pablo Alfaro, former partner of Quique Setién in Racing de Santander and with a fleeting past as Blaugrana, put the Catalans on the ropes. They left the ball but canceled it by having constant cons, full of danger. The club was enough with two goals from the 'Little Prince', in the absence of Messi, who prevented his team from drowning in Can Misses.
UD Ibiza came early on the scoreboard, in the 9th minute, with a goal from a certain fortune by bouncing the shot of Javi Pérez in Pep Caballé and changing trajectory to deceive Neto, who on the edge of the break took a vital left hand to avoid the second of the premises, a powerful shot of Rodado, after a shot at the post of Raí.
In addition, the Ibicencos saw how they were annulled a goal, in a correct decision to commit a foul on Clément Lenglet before facing and surpassing Neto. Barça's Brazilian goal continues with its 'badge' and cannot yet leave its goal intact in the games it has played.
The success of the Pitiusas team, with a festive audience that gave everything in Can Misses, joined the bad game of Barça to arrive with that 1-0 to rest. Barça did not even shoot at goal in the first 45 minutes, despite having an initial eleven quite recognizable with Antoine Griezmann as head of the attack.
Quique Setién, in his second game in office, chose to vary the scheme and arranged a changing 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 in defense. Nelson Semedo occupied the right lane and was responsible for drawing the system, with Sergi Roberto as the false center next to Lenglet and with the 'Bético' and discovery of Setién, Junior Firpo, on the left-handed side.
A variation that did not suit a club that, lost in the artificial turf of the expanded stadium of the UD Ibiza-Eivissa, did not know how to move the ball quickly despite having Frenkie De Jong, Ivan Rakitic and Riqui Puig in the medulla, what barely got balls to the bands of Ansu Fati and Semedo or the two strikers; Griezmann and Carles Pérez.
And it is that the occasions, although not the possession of the ball, were for an Ibiza that gave by bad its brief advantage to the rest, for that much annulled and for that double occasion in which twice they put all the hands to the head to see how the Blaugrana team came out unscathed, and more when they saw that they ended up paying for it with the elimination.
The beginning of the second part continued with the same script, without any plot twist. Setién tried giving entrance to Jordi Alba, by an invisible Carles Pérez, and then with Arthur, by an insipid this time Riqui Pugi. Meanwhile, in Can Misses, in the 65th minute, more waves were seen in the stands than in the nearby Mediterranean Sea.
The joy did not last much longer, until the goal of Antoine Griezmann in the 72nd minute, four minutes after Ivan Rakitic put Germán Parreño to the test for the first time in the duel. First, he finished off first a pass from Frenkie De Jong and, in the meantime of the win, did the same to the assistance of Jordi Alba. In minute 94, two of the added time, sinking an Ibiza that gave it all and was rewarded with a closed ovation from its people.
