MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
American coach Gregg Popovich has surpassed Don Nelson this morning as the coach with the most wins in NBA history after the San Antonio Spurs beat the Utah Jazz (104-102).
The Spurs trailed by 15 points in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game, but came from behind to sign Popovich’s 1,336th win in North American competition, one more than his friend Nelson.
Popovich, who is in his 26th season with San Antonio, was bunted by his players before being congratulated in a video message by Nelson.
Donovan Mitchell led the scoring for the Spurs and Rudy Gobert had 13 points and 16 rebounds for Popovich’s men, who are 26-41 on the season and rank eleventh in the Western Conference.
