It’s official. Jorge Molina has renewed with Granada for one more season, that is, until June 30, 2023. The Alcoy striker already left everything closed with the club on Thursday of last week. Even his teammates greeted him with a congratulatory ovation at the subsequent training session.
This means that the one from Alcoy, when his contract ends, at 41 years of age, will enter the Top-Ten of the oldest players in the League. In it are currently the goalkeepers Alberto Cifuentes and Ricardo; Amadeo Carboni, Donato or the special category Harry Lowe, who played a game with Real Sociedad at the age of 48.
For your interest we reproduce the club’s statement.. Jorge Molina arrived in Granada in the summer of 2020 and in his first season he has already become the team’s top scorer with 15 goals and five assists in all competitions, adding LaLiga, Copa del Rey and the UEFA Europa League.
In his second campaign as a rojiblanco, this year his teammates have chosen him as one of the team captainsToday he continues to increase his records, contributing, at this stage of the season, nine goals and four assists between LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.
His great form has also allowed him to continue breaking historical records in the elite competition, such as surpassing Joaquín Sánchez as the oldest player in LaLiga to achieve a hat-trick (against RCD Mallorca on matchday 18) or leave Di Stéfano behind and be on the lookout for another red-and-white player, César Rodríguez and Donato, as the longest-serving footballer to score in the entire history of LaLiga.
