Granada, guest of honor at Real Jaén’s Centenary

Since 7-6-2014 things have gone from bad to worse for Real Jaén. That day the lizard team descended to Second B after a dramatic defeat against Alavés, 2-3, by a goal in the last minute by Guzmán that condemned him to hell. Since then things have gone from bad to worse and now the team from Jaen survives as best it can in the Third RFEF.

The historic Real Jaén commemorates this Friday (7:30 p.m.) its centenary against Granada at the La Victoria stadium at its most difficult moment. Economic and institutional problems made plan the ghost of disappearance. He was on the verge of not starting the season in Group IX of the RFEF Third Division and in fact started with three points less in the standings. He was sanctioned for missing a match against Motril and an additional fine of 750 euros.

Little by little the team that trains emilio ferreras It goes up and is getting closer to the shore. Last Sunday he obtained a very important victory in the field of Torreperogil. The support of the fans is being fundamental in these hard times. The recent collaboration agreement reached with BeSoccer shows that the team clings to life.

And on this stage comes Granada, a much-loved team with whom there is twinning between hobbies to revive a match that has not been held since 3-1-2010. Both teams were in Second Division B. Jaén, then led by Álvaro Cervera, won 2-0, both goals scored by the Spanish-French Philipe Toledo. In that season Granada was promoted to Second 22 years while Jaén was left at the gates after being eliminated by Barcelona B of Sergi Roberto, Nolito and Thiago Alcántara.

It so happens that this was the same result that occurred in their last match in the First Division that dates back to 15-9-1957 with goals from Arregui and Bermúdez from penalties. Their last match in the Second Division was on 12-31-1978. Zero tie.

Ruben Torrecilla, Granada’s still interim coach, will take advantage of the league break to continue maintaining the competitive rhythm of the team that has four of its players with their respective national teams. They are Raúl Torrente (Spain U-21), Machís (Venezuela), Luis Suárez (Colombia) and Arezo (Albania). It will be a good opportunity to see the recently renovated Jorge Molina, one of the great attractions of this Granada

The short distance that separates both cities (94 kilometres) can encourage a good handful of Granada fans to travel. It is expected that the Victoria Stadium registers a good entry to give luster to this great Centenary.
