Granada dreams of Europe again

Granada's historic victory at the Camp Nou is the icing on the cake a season full of historical deeds. However, with 45 points in the backpack and with five days still ahead, the rojiblanca squad wants more. The team is on the edge, but the shore is near and the victory against Barcelona serves at the same time to re-engage him in the fight for one of the seven seats that give him the right to play in Europe next season.

“We have 45 points and now we are going for 48. We will play each game as if it were the last”, affirmed Víctor Díaz after the heroic triumph in Barcelona. And it is that although Diego Martínez tries to maintain prudence and assures that the objective of the season is more than fulfilled, in the dressing room they do not hide that the options to be able to fight for a European place are there.

The next two appointments will be decisive. The matches against Cádiz and Betis can put Granada fully into the fight. Villarreal is seventh with 49 points and Betis sixth with 50. If the Nasrids win both games they would be, in the worst case, two points behind Europe with nine still to be disputed. The accounts are very clear. The next two stakes will define if the possibility of repeating European adventure is real or it vanishes before the championship is over.

In addition to Cádiz and Betis, Granada will have to face Real Madrid in Los Cármenes, Alavés in Mendizorroza and Getafe at home between now and the end of the League. The calendar is not presumed to be simple, but this team has already shown that it is capable of anything despite carrying tremendous physical fatigue and having suffered many casualties throughout the year.

Diego recognized after the feat at the Camp Nou that his team is “on the edge”, but will recover several important players for Sunday. And self-esteem and faith are at their best. “We have confidence through the roof, but we must continue. We have achieved the second best score and now we want more, to continue adding and above all to win ”, postulated Aarón Escandell after the victory against Messi and company. Nonconformity is one of the secrets of this Granada, which never tires of breaking records and reaching impossible challenges.
