The match that Granada and Athletic Club were playing this Sunday at the Nuevo Los Cármenes, corresponding to the sixteenth day of LaLiga EA Sports, has been suspended after a fan present in the stands suffered cardiorespiratory arrest and died.
In the 17th minute, the Madrid referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias stopped the match, in which the Basques were in charge thanks to a goal from Iñaki Williams in the 6th minute (0-1), when he was warned that one of the fans present in The stadium was being attended to by emergency services.
The medical staff performed resuscitation exercises and finally the spectator was evacuated, while the two teams considered the possibility of the match being suspended.
Finally, the fan died. “Granada CF – Athletic Club is suspended. Please, we ask the fans to vacate the stadium,” Granada reported, although Athletic did confirm the news. “LaLiga and both clubs have agreed to suspend the match due to the death of the fan in Los Cármenes. Athletic Club deeply regrets the event and sends a message of encouragement to his family,” he said.
