Granada adds four consecutive defeats nine months later

The defeat suffered by Granada this Sunday before Real society (2-0) is the fourth in a row for the rojiblancos, a streak that the team had not suffered since the end of last season, when they also lost the same series of games, although in a very different situation than now.

The setback against Real joins the previous ones against Getafe (4-2), Osasuna (0-2) and Real Madrid (1-0), which has led Robert Moreno’s team to four straight losses.

The last time that Granada experienced a similar streak was nine months ago, in May 2021, when in four of the last five days of last season they fell consecutively against Cádiz (0-1), Betis (2-1) , Real Madrid (1-4) and Alavés (4-2).

The situation, however, was very different from now, since Granada is currently in the middle of a fight for permanence, while at the end of last season nothing was at stake as it was already saved and dragged a great wear and tear from his participation in LaLiga Santander, the Europa League and the Copa del Rey.

Granada’s last victory so far occurred in the last game of 2021 against Atlético de Madrid (2-1), so they still do not know the victory in a 2022 that began with two draws against Barcelona at home (1- 1) and in the Elche field (0-0).

The relegation zone to 4 points

The bad moment of the team has caused it to drop to sixteenth place in the standings after having added only two points from the last 18 disputed and that the income it has over the relegation zone has been reduced to only four points.

In addition to four consecutive defeats, Granada has accumulated six games without a win, very close to the seven it was at the start of the season, and three official games in a row without scoring, which is also its longest scoring drought of the course.

With this scenario, the Andalusian team is now preparing to face two consecutive games at home, against Villarreal and Cádiz, clashes that are going to be key.
