MADRID, 9 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Australian cyclist Grace Brown (FDJ Suez Futuroscope) won this Friday in the third stage of the Ceratizit Challenge By La Vuelta 22, disputed over 96.5 kilometers between Camargo and Aguilar de Campoo, while the Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar Team ) is still in the red jersey.
It was a busy third day, with several escape attempts, the first starring Aude Biannic (Movistar Team), Sandra Alonso (Ceratizit – WNT) and Caroline Andersson (Valcar Travel & Service), and later a large group of 18 runners was formed , with important names such as Sara Martín, Emma Norsgaard, Marlen Reusser or Laura Asencio.
However, the platoon did not allow them to take too much of a difference and captured them early. Mavi García (UAE Team ADQ) also tried it on the steep terrain on several occasions, also without a success that was achieved by Brown, very active and who finally managed to go with the Swiss Elise Chabbey (Canyon Sram), whom she beat in the final sprint.
The group, with the leader, reached just eight seconds, so Van Vleuten, winner last year, remains at the forefront of the general classification with 1:55 compared to Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek Segafredo) and 2:24 with Demi Vollering (SD Worx) before a fourth stage ending in Segovia.
