Real Valladolid is in mourning, after the death on Tuesday of one of its historical figures, Gonzalo Alonso, who presided over the club in two different stages: between 1978 and 1982 and between 1983 and 1986. With him in the presidency the entity experienced one of the greatest milestones in its history, its only official title: the League Cup achieved in the 1983-84 season.
Alonso became the top president of Pucela in 1978. With him in office, Cup semifinals were reached, in which the team fell to Valencia, a promotion to First and the inauguration of the New José Zorrilla took place in 1982. His were the signings of some of the greatest talents who wore the blanquivioleta shirt, such as Fenoy or Gilberto. After a short period in which Manuel Esteban replaced him, he returned to preside over the 'Moth' Da Silva, 'Duck' Yáñez 'or to see Eusebio or Fonseca sprout.
