Girona does not raise its head in Elche

Girona lose by the minimum 1-0 in Elche and confirm their terrible start after the return of the championship. Escriche, in the second half and without opposition, scored the goal of the victory of the ilicitanos, who stand with 50 points and pass in front of those of Martí, who remain touched.

Girona and Elche faced each other at Martínez Valero in a key meeting in the fight to enter the promotion playoff. The sensations were good again in the first twenty minutes, as usual, but then it faded as the team from El Salvador settled down. Stuani, disappeared, had a very clear opportunity to pass Samu, but Edgar Badia, attempted, cleared.

In the restart, Elche made Girona's injury even bigger by putting the first goal of the match in a spectacular transition that exposed the weaknesses of the Girona team. The Catalan team launched a corner kick in favor that ended up becoming a counterattack by Josan against four footballers and this one, put a cross at the far post so that Escriche, alone and incomprehensibly finished off with pleasure to put his own team ahead.

The goal both woke up Girona, but it was late. The team got rid of fear as it had not done in the previous two games and was close to finding the tie on several occasions. Aday saw a goal annulled before 60 and as before being replaced Edgar Badia deflected a good shot from inside the area.

The Catalan team surely chained the best minutes after confinement, but without the necessary fortune to get anything positive. Gumbau tried twice from a distance, but between the crossbar and the goalkeeper they avoided the equalizer.
