Giráldez, happy for Bonmatí and Putellas: “We are in a sweet moment, and may it last many more years”

MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Barça Femení coach, Jonatan Giráldez, described this Thursday as “a sweet moment” the accumulation of titles and awards for Spanish soccer players like Alexia Putellas, and in that regard he advocated for “the winning streak to last for many more years,” of the recent Ballon d’Or awarded to Aitana Bonmatí.

“Without a doubt we are in a sweet moment, and may it last for many more years,” commented Giráldez during the preludes to the MARCA Women’s Sports Awards gala, organized by the sports newspaper at the Espacio Rastro Madrid.

“Whenever there are recognitions, in this case on an individual level, it is a pride for me to be able to come, to be able to participate in this gala. And this is what I explain many times, it is impossible to be nominated here or receive these awards if, on a collective level, the team “He doesn’t do things well. Last season we had was very good and that’s probably why I’m here today,” said the culé coach.

Furthermore, Giráldez highlighted how they approach this season in the Blaugrana locker room. “With great enthusiasm. Because it is true that last season was a very good season, but it was not perfect. In the end, when you are at Barça, the challenge is always to win everything, it is always to try to face each game with the intention of winning it. We know that each year is more demanding and each year is harder, but the excitement is maximum,” he said.

On the other hand, he admitted to feeling “proud” to coach Bonmatí and Putellas, and described it as “a privilege” to see them every day on the pitch. “It’s true that what you normally see on television are the games; but I see them training not only Aitana, not only Alexia, but the rest of the players…” Giráldez snorted.

“It is impossible to get Ballon d’Ors if the level of training of the rest of your teammates is not good. That level of demand that exists on a daily basis means that they have to give their best version, so that they can then compete every week of the season.” way they do it,” he argued.

“Now we see fewer and fewer bulky results. I would tell you that the teams are more and better prepared, more is being invested in staff structures and that somehow allows the players to improve their individual performance,” Giráldez explained about the high level of current women’s football around the world.

“For us it is always a challenge to try to face it every year with the intention of winning every game we play; the higher the level, the more fun and entertaining it is for the spectator,” Giráldez concluded before being awarded Best Coach.
