Giménez renews until 2025

Atlético announced the renewal of José María Giménez until 2025. The 26-year-old Uruguayan footballer has extended his commitment to the Madrid entity for two more seasons (it ended in 2023) and will continue to wear the red and white shirt for the next four seasons, that is until 2025.

Giménez arrived at Atlético in April 2013 and on September 14 he made his debut with the Madrid team. It was in the match against Almería, with a 4-2 win for the rojiblanco. He did not have many minutes, but he did participate in the league title of that 2013-14 season. Giménez has played 216 games with the Atlético shirt and later he won a Spanish Super Cup, a Europa League, a European Super Cup and the recently won league title.

The Uruguayan defender has become an important player at Atlético despite injuries. When it has been available, it has been fixed for Simeone. This season he starts as a starter in a defense that he will form with Savic and Hermoso. His weight in the team makes him one of the four captains since the 2019-20 season.

Atlético already renewed Savic, now they do it with Giménez and later he will do it with Felipe, who ends the contract next season, and with Marcos Llorente, wanted by the main European clubs.
