Gerrard, a serious obstacle for Atlético de Madrid

Boubacar Kamara, a 22-year-old Olympique de Marseille player, ends his contract with the Marseille team on June 30, and has become one of the most sought-after midfielders. The French footballer, determined not to extend his relationship with the team led by Jorge Sampaoli, entered Atlético de Madrid’s list of goals several weeks ago, with a view to renewing the mattress core for next year. But, despite the fact that the rojiblancos have already made a contract offer to Kamara to take over his services once he becomes a free agent, Cholo Simeone’s team will not be alone in the race for the French midfielder.

The broadcast cameras of the Ligue 1 match between Olympique de Marseille and Nantes (3-2) at the Vélodrome captured Steven Gerrard, Aston Villa coach, along with Christian Purslow and Johan Lange, executive and sporting directors of the English club, in the stands of the Marseille stadium. As reported by the Daily Express, said Villans staff members traveled to Marseille to see Boubacar Kamara. Aston Villa are determined to make a significant investment in bringing on a defensive midfielder, as they showed in the last winter transfer window by seeking out Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, or more recently Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips. In this way, it is understood that Kamara’s “is one of the names that appear on Villa’s pre-selected list for the summer”as this medium points out, an interest that can be translated as an obstacle in the mattress intentions.

The ‘tower’ of Gerrard

Although Boubacar Kamara’s is one of the options that the Villans are considering to play midfield, this is not the only one. And it is that Atlético de Madrid itself could cause Aston Villa to “forget” the French midfielder by releasing a player from the current red and white squad. “Gerrard was also at the Wanda Metropolitano last week to see Geoffrey Kondogbiafrom Atlético de Madrid, in the eventful tie in the Champions League with Manchester City”, affirms the Daily Express.

The English coach is observing directly several of the midfielders that the Birmingham club has on his agenda, and the mattress footballer could be the key for Kamara to end up at Atlético. Together with the still Olympique de Marseille and Kondogbia player, “The former Liverpool captain also kept an eye on PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare and Noni Madueke, a 20-year-old Englishmanin a 0-0 Conference League draw with Leicester at the King Power Stadium in early April.”
