Germany no option to Finland

The German team has completed its full victories in the group stage after beating Finland 3-0, which was outclassed from start to finish by one of the strong contenders for the title. Even more so after a first phase in which the Teutonics have not conceded a single goal against and have managed to score an average of 3 goals per game. Quite the opposite of Finland, which said goodbye to the tournament with 0 points, 8 goals against and only one goal in favor, the one against Spain.

Germany entered the match very well, demonstrating its superiority from the start. In fact, the team coached by Martina Voss-Tecklenburg he was able to open the scoring when the first 30 seconds had barely been consumed. A good cross from the right ended in the head of Popp that she was completely alone although she came a little forced and her attempt went high. It would be the first warning of many for the Finns who did not concede the first goal until 40′ despite German insistence. Finland was resigned to waiting for some option on the counterattack while they were bottled up in their field with a Germany that played at will and enjoyed all kinds of chances, although they could not find a goal. Most of the attacks came from the right flank due in large part to the inspiration of Däbritz y Gwinn. Especially the latter who was the one who served the first goal. The Bayern Munich winger reached the baseline to assist the other winger, Kleinherne, who only had to put his head to send it unopposed to the back of the net. The goal came just five minutes before the break, when Germany was causing the least danger, and it was a blow from which the Scandinavians would never recover.

The second half followed the same script as the first, although this time three minutes were enough for the Germans to find the second goal. It was the 48th minute of the match when a great cross from Hendrich found the head of Popp, who jumped powerfully and finished off a dive to score his third goal in the tournament. He kept insisting Germany against a dislocated Finland that was beginning to assume that the third was a matter of time. A third goal that would come in the 63rd minute thanks to a good play by Anyomi. The young German striker, who had entered the break and was enjoying her first minutes in this European Championship, stole a ball from the penalty spot, placed it on her right leg and beat Talaslahti with a powerful crossover shot. Finland could only fight not to take a major win and so they did. The final stretch of the match did not have much history and the 3 to 0 ended up being the final result.

Germany will be in the quarter-finals of the European Championship for the eleventh time in a row in search of what would be their ninth European crown. The Teutonics will face Austria next Thursday (8:00 p.m.) in search of the semifinals with the label of favorites.
