Germán: “You have to face each game as if it were your last”

German Parreño Boix Originally aired February 16, 1993. He is the titular goalkeeper of UD Ibiza. He has played it all this season in Second and it has been transcendental for two games for his team to have come back, after three consecutive defeats. The Ibizan block visits this day to the bottom in a duel in which they look for three fundamental points.

– Now the team’s streak has changed, but they have already had their first slump with three defeats in a row. Like many came up with the great start of the team?

– Since we started, we are very clear that this is very long and that there are going to be streaks. The important thing is that we follow the same line of work. The fundamental thing is the work from day to day and from week to week, and the results will end up coming out over the weekend. And we continue to believe in that, because in the end it is what bears fruit. Not a week were we that bad and now we’re not that good. From the inside, we are clear that the important thing is the daily work. If we do it right, it will pay off. But knowing that it is a sport, that there are streaks and that it is a very close and long competition. You have to face each game as if it were your last.

– How are moral to measure Alcorcón?

– After a small streak of not adding, breaking it and scoring again, you face it differently. But from the beginning we are clear that this League is very long and that we have to go week by week. Right now we only have Alcorcón in mind and we really want the game to come.

– A rival who is much worse than you and who will surely come out very strong …

– They will go out to give everything, but we do not have to be less. We are playing a lot in each game, because every three points are gold. We have to match or exceed the intensity that they mark.

– In preseason they played against them. Are you expecting a completely different match?

– Yes, that was a preparatory match and this is a competition match. Half measures are no longer valid here. It will be a totally different meeting.

– How much good was the penalty for Fuenlabrada?

– It was good for us because we did not concede a goal and it helped to add three points that we wanted and needed. No more. That’s it, it’s over and there’s no more. Football has a short memory and every week is a new one.

– For me it is the action that changes everything in that game …

– In the end, we all have actions and moments in which we try to help. Each player has their key moments and they are all important. Sometimes some things are more and others less, but hey.

– Do you think the team concedes a lot of goals?

– We are not getting that much. Yes, it is true that there are two games in which more reach us and there is one [el de la goleada sufrida frente al Cartagena] in which you concede five goals. Then you look at the statistics and say, ‘How many goals!’ They weren’t scoring so many, but they put us five and the statistics change. But they are not generating us enough to take so many goals. We know how we have to continue working, with our strengths and weaker ones that we have to polish them. We know that we are a solid team and it must be confirmed with clean sheets.

– And we go back to the usual, that this is Second Division and the rivals also play …

– Exactly, change. From one division to another, you have players with higher quality in front of you, who for small details make you a goal or you do it. The most important thing is that you generate more than the opposite, and I think this is the usual trend.

– How is the competition with Álex Domínguez? Do you put yourself in your role of not having played any official minutes with Ibiza yet?

– Yes, I have also spent years and moments with this situation. It is working very well and very well. He is a good goalkeeper. I put myself in their place, and in the end it is work, work and work. He is a young goalkeeper, with a lot of boards and very good conditions. He is a good partner and we get along very well.

– And what do you think of the fans?

– They are responding. You can see the people who come, who support us. Despite the complicated schedules, people come to the field. You can see his breath on the street. It seems like it was something else, but the island is very footballing. What we want is to create fans and get the island hooked. We are super grateful to everyone for the fact that they support us and help us.
