German Kohlschreiber ends his career in Wimbledon qualifying

MADRID, 22 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The German tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber lost his second round of the Wimbledon qualifiers on Wednesday, against the Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin (6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4), and ended his career without being able to say goodbye in London main draw.

Kohlschreiber, champion of eight ATP titles and who became number 16 in the world in 2012, advanced this week that the English ‘Grand Slam’ would be his last tournament, but the 38-year-old German player had to advance his farewell to the previous one

The tennis player from Augsburg retires as number 230 in the world and at Wimbledon he had achieved his best result in a ‘big’, the quarterfinals of 2012, the year in which he had his best ATP ranking.
