Georgia coach since 2016, Slovak Vladimir Weiss, resigned following the defeat of the Georgian team to North Macedonia (0-1) in the playoff to enter Euro 2021, the most important match in the history of the former Soviet republic.

At the post-match press conference he had already taken responsibility for the defeat and apologized. “It was a bad day, although we wished everyone joy,” he said.
The match between Georgia and North Macedonia should have been held in the spring of this year, within the framework of the previous edition of the Nations League, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The day before the game, Georgia lost its best footballer, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who contracted Covid-19 and thwarted Weiss's plans, who could not find a replacement at his height.
Four footballers who are active in the second division of Spanish football played in the match. Goalkeeper Gueorgui Makaridze plays for Almería; defender Otar Kakabadze plays for Tenerife; midfielder Gueorgui Aburdzhania defends the colors of Oviedo and Zaragoza also plays Gueorgui Papuashvili.
At the moment Georgia and North Macedonia are in the same subgroup of the current edition of the League of Nations, with six points each.
On November 15, the Georgians will face the Armenian team and on November 18, Estonia, without it being clear who will prepare the team for these matches.
