Gayà: “At least we have not lost, a defeat would have been critical”

Valencia captain, José Luis Gayà, admitted that the point achieved this Saturday against Alavés “in principle” would not have served them well, but after getting ahead of the rival, it was very important to have avoided a defeat that would have been “critical”.

“We had the need to win and it was another opportunity to stop looking down, but the rival has put us ahead and although we have scratched a point, it is not what we wanted,” he said in an interview with Movistar LaLiga.

“The situation is bad but we have to continue and we have to be more united than ever,” remarked Gayà, who said they do not want to “look down.”

Gayà admitted that the team “lacks many things, it is reality”, and stressed that they are unable to link victories and that it is very difficult for them to get ahead.

“We are very far from the level we wanted, the games that remain are going to be very tough and we have to mentalize ourselves. We will have to give two hundred percent if we want to win ”, he warned.

“When the season is over it will be time to talk about other things, but now is to be together and we need people to support us. I hope they are with us until the end because we need them ”, he concluded.
