Garín and Fritz meet in the Houston quarterfinals

The Chilean Cristian Garín qualified this Thursday for the quarterfinals of the Houston tournament (Texas, USA) while his compatriot Alejandro Tabilo and the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas said goodbye in the round of 16.

Garín, number 29 in the world, beat Australian Jordan Thompson, who occupies position 83 in the ATP, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and 11 minutes.

The Chilean will face American Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinalsnumber 13 in the world and champion in Indian Wells in March by beating Spanish Rafa Nadal in the final.

Garin will have the option of avenge his compatriot Alejandro Tabilo in the quarterfinals, that fell precisely this Thursday against Fritz.

The American took the round of 16 match against Tabilo 6-1 and 6-4 in one hour and 2 minutes.

For his part, the American Frances Tiafoe defeated Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas in the second round 5-7, 7-5 and 7-6(4) in a very tough game of two hours and 40 minutes.
