MADRID, 5 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The coach of Las Palmas, Francisco Javier García Pimienta, lamented the elimination of his team in the ‘playoff’ for promotion to First Division after falling to Tenerife (1-2) but highlighted the work of his players, of whom he said they should be “proud”.
“The team has not stopped trying, the people have given everything and we have had a very worthy second half,” said the coach at a press conference. “The only thing we have demanded in the locker room is to fight and believe in the goal. We have to be proud of the team. These players have a lot of merit,” he added.
“The locker room is affected, we have to make them see all the good they have done. The players made a brutal effort, it’s time to rest now and think about what’s to come,” said García Pimienta.
“We reached the limit, we had no margin for error. The team believed from the first moment. When you try as UD has tried, you can’t say anything. I’m very proud of the team,” García Pimienta told the media.
“UD is one of those clubs that you follow because you like their football, I am very proud of what has been achieved and how it has been achieved. I think that UD Las Palmas has this identity and a game philosophy that is very nice , this is the way”, stressed the technician.
Asked about the atmosphere this Saturday at the Gran Canaria stadium, the yellow coach said that “the fans are the treasure of this club.” “It’s time to get back up and think about next season,” he added.
“They had told me that the island and the fans were different. A very important thing has been achieved, which is the unity of the team with the fans. I am very proud that they feel identified with the team, I have been very moved,” he said. .
