MADRID, 20 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza put a point aside in her hesitant moment in the season and qualified this Monday for the round of 16 of the Eastbourne tournament (England), scoring for the WTA and which is played on grass, after defeating to the Polish Magdalena Frech in two sets 6-1, 7-6(7).
After losing in the first round of Roland Garros and also beginning her start on the grass-court tour in Berlin with a defeat, the double ‘Grand Slam’ champion, exempt from the first round due to her seeded status, realized a joy to try to get a good run before the assault on Wimbledon.
Muguruza started the duel against Frech well with a very solid first set, without giving concessions with his services, with only eight points lost, and with two consecutive ‘breaks’ that helped him close it in just over half an hour.
However, the duel was equalized in the second set, where the Pole planted more battle against the fifth seed of the tournament. This time, they were unable to take advantage of an early break, which their rival recovered in the sixth game to restore equality that lasted until the tie-break.
There, the former world number one seemed to have the victory on track with a 5/1 lead, but could not close it at first before Frech’s reaction, which equaled six points before giving up on the fourth match point.
