The president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), Jorge Garbajosa, assures that the coach of the women’s team, Miguel Méndez, is the “perfect selector” for this moment and for the present group, which is now beginning a new stage under the motto ‘Road to the future’.
“We have the perfect coach for this moment and for this team, probably the most successful coach of recent times in Europe,” he declared during the ‘Media Day’ of the Spanish women’s basketball team, which presented its summer tour.
In this sense, Garbajosa assured that when you put all this together with a ‘team manager’ like the recently retired Laia Palau and “young talent, experience, the best technicians and enthusiasm”, it makes the whole project sound “very good”. “I have all the hope in the world,” he assured.
“This summer we saw ourselves without official competition and we understood that a path to the future was coming, but for that you have to have a plan, an illusion and some wickers. When we started preparing it, what we received was a tremendous illusion to start with a new future Garbajosa assured.
He also believes that the selection has an “innate talent”. “Every day she improves, and she has the illusion that just by being here they show. We know the commitment. And the commitment on the court and the one that this team has as the flagship of women’s basketball in Spain”, she valued.
