The president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), Jorge Garbajosa, accompanied Lenovo Tenerife this Sunday in the conquest of its third Intercontinental title, a new success that confirms the position of the Canarian team in the “world basketball elite”.
“I want to congratulate Lenovo Tenerife for the victory in this third Intercontinental Cup that consolidates them, definitively, in the elite of world basketball. This title confirms the strength of a project that is growing and makes us feel proud as a Federation and as Spaniards” Garbajosa pointed out.
“In the same way that I have felt proud of the commitment of the Canary Islands and Tenerife institutions in the organization of this final, once again bordering on a height that very few countries can achieve”, added the president of the FEB from La Laguna , where the aurinegro team beat Sao Paulo (68-89).
Garbajosa thanked FIBA for trusting the Spanish organization of major events. “I also want to thank FIBA for continuing to trust Spain for the organization of this type of sporting event, because it confirms two things: our solvency as a venue for high-level events and that our teams almost always play them, which, at the same time It is a recognition of the very high sporting level of our clubs”, he concluded.
