MADRID, 3 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista will have to serve a two-game ban for his entry into the Real Madrid striker Vinícius Júnior, the same penalty that the Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho has received for “contempt or inconsideration” towards the referees, he has dictated this Friday the Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
The Spanish-Brazilian central defender was sent off 20 minutes from the end of the Valencianistas’ duel at the Santiago Bernabéu (2-0) for a violent kick to Vinícius without the option of challenging for the ball. “I accept the criticism and the red card, I’m not proud. I’m a forceful player, but a noble one,” he assured this Friday, apologizing “from the bottom of my heart” for the entry.
For his part, Carvalho was sanctioned with two games for an attitude “of contempt or inconsideration towards the referees” after the duel between the Verdiblancos and FC Barcelona at the Benito Villamarín (1-2). The Portuguese approached the Basque referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea at the end of the game and saw the direct red card.
