Gabri Veiga leaves Celta in First Division

Gabri Veiga leaves Celta in First Division

The youth squad player comes to the rescue, with a flavor of last service, with a double in the 2-1 win against Barça

MADRID, 4 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

RC Celta beat FC Barcelona (2-1) this Sunday in the last day of LaLiga Santander thanks to a brace from Gabri Veiga, Balaídos idol as the architect of three points that sealed salvation without having to look at the rest of the matches.

Those from Vigo, one of the six teams that could be relegated on the last day, complied almost without suffering against a Barça that, champion weeks ago, did not take such pains. Xavi Hernández’s men had their options with Kessié, but they did not find goals against Pichichi Lewandowski (23) and they missed Pedri’s facilities.

The champion came to get ahead through the Ivorian but breathed a sigh of relief with the VAR of a Celta who bit in search of the goal. A counter attack that Carles Pérez did not manage well was followed by another option for Kessié, but Celta found inspiration from a Veiga who made the difficult easy with a pass into the net (1-0).

The youth player almost burst into tears as he scored the goal before the break and Celta was able to turn off the radios when Veiga himself made it 2-0, emulating Goikoetxea’s famous goal with Spain shortly after the break. The entry of Ansu Fati encouraged Barça’s game somewhat and the Barça ’10’, waiting for these conversations for the return of Leo Messi, made it 2-1 against Dembélé’s center.

Celta, with Veiga blowing kisses as if some great player in Europe had already tied him up after his breakthrough season, was saved in the end without suffering excessively, although only the fact of having to do it on matchday 38 showed that, in the team light blue, again things did not work out. Barça, with Pichichi and Zamora, with Ter Stegen, said goodbye in a procedure, thinking of putting together a little more for the team in search of the long-awaited ‘Champions’.
