G20 leaders hope that Paris 2024 will be a “symbol of peace” and will have “the participation of everyone”

The G20 heads of state and heads of government, who met in New Delhi (India) this weekend, have expressed their desire for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be “a symbol of peace, dialogue between nations and inclusion” and that they have “the participation of everyone.

“We look forward to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024 as a symbol of peace, dialogue between nations and inclusion, with the participation of all,” says the statement by the G20 leaders published this Sunday.

The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, was satisfied with the nature of the statement. “We would like to very warmly thank the G20 leaders, including for the first time the African Union, for their invaluable support. The IOC will continue to work with full commitment to achieve these objectives, which are also ours,” he said. .

The Group of Twenty (G20) is made up of 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey , the United Kingdom and the United States), the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU). G20 members represent about 85 percent of global GDP, more than 75 percent of global trade and about two-thirds of the world’s population.
