Fundación Ibedrola grants 11 Paralympic athletes to be “recognized for their professional talent”

MADRID, Jan. 20 (SportsFinding) –

The Fundación Iberdrola España proceeded on Monday to deliver their scholarships to eleven Paralympic athletes so that they can continue with their training so that at the end of their sports career they can be “also recognized for their professional talent.”

The athletes Héctor Cabrera, Gerard Descarrega, Iván Cano and Meritxel Playà, swimmers Enhamed Enhamed, Óscar Salguero, María Delgado and Ariadna Edo, triathlete Jairo Ruiz, table tennis player Jordi Morales and tennis player Martín de la Puente have been the graces with this help so that they can combine in the best possible way their sports career and their studies.

María Delgado, double Paralympic medalist and who is studying Sports Science, thanked Iberdrola for scholarships that are “a great help and a boost to continue” with their academic training and, “most importantly,” that they can combine it “with high level sport”.

“Iberdrola looks for our future and for our important labor integration when we leave the sport. In addition, we can serve as a great example to other athletes who do not dare to study for fear of not making it compatible,” added the Aragonese.

For his part, Jordi Morales recalled that “the training part, which is sometimes forgotten or not so visible, is very important” for athletes. “But it is essential not only because sports life is short but also for life current. My studies are part of my preparation and if I do not combine it with sport I will not have that peace of mind, “he admitted.

Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), gave the “congratulations” to the scholarship athletes who are favored by “the commitment to training and people with disabilities who are dedicated to sports and whose sports life will one day end and they will remain people “that the energy company carries out.

“We continue betting on the people who give everything in sport and who have the ability to show the country a way to go through life and for them we need travel companions to help us build people for the future and get better citizens. We will get you to be recognized for your sports talent but also for professional talent, “said the leader.

Finally, Fernando García, president of the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, acknowledged that this scholarship delivery meant “a tremendous honor.” “In our statutes there is a social dividend to invest in the improvement of citizens and there is no better model than these scholarships,” he said.

The manager noted that they surrender to the “capacity for effort, delivery and motivation” of athletes with disabilities. “It gives us reasons to continue working on improving living conditions for citizens,” he added.
