The Venezuelan faces one of the most complicated times of her life. The last year has been marked by loss and pain after the divorce from her husband, Nicholas of Greeceand the mysterious disappearance of his stepbrother, Attilio Brillembourgin Malibu. At 44 years old, Tatiana Blatnik has experienced a profound transformation on a personal level: “Last year was a transformative year for me, full of changes that challenged me to grow, learn, and rebuild a life that truly reflects who I am.”
This is how she explained it herself on her social networks just two weeks ago: “There were moments when I felt trapped between identities, navigating a limbo of self-discovery. However, in those moments, I found clarity. By embracing my true self, “I discovered a new strength. My journey led me to reconnect with my roots. Visiting my father’s birthplace was a powerful reminder of where I came from, and brought a deep sense of belonging.” Now, like a Phoenix, Tatiana is willing to reinvent herself to find peace and happiness again: “This year, I will continue this exploration, honoring the past while sitting in the present, here in Greece, a place I now call home “.
Overwhelmed by events, she recognizes that “everything happened at the same time, like an avalanche of changes in front of everyone,” but she has found in her mother, Marie Blanche Bierlein, her best companion on this restorative journey: “She is my best friend, my confidant, my stylist and the most loving and generous woman I have ever met,” she says.
Born on August 27, 1980 in Caracas, Venezuela, she studied at Aiglon College, a boarding school in Switzerland, and later at Georgetown University, where she graduated in 2003 in Sociology. She worked in the advertising department as an event planner for designer Diane von Fürstenberg and in 2010 she settled in Athens, where she married Nicholas of Greece on the island of Spetses.
Since then, she has been dedicated to various charitable causes and works especially to give visibility to mental health problems through Breathe, a platform that she created during the health crisis and that maintains a close relationship with the Royal Family.
Tatiana’s life seemed like a fairy tale until in April everything blew up with the statement from the Royal House, announcing the divorce of the princes. The reasons that led them to make that decision were not revealed, but it was undertaken out of love and respect. Despite everything, it was not easy for Tatiana: “I learned the importance of allowing myself to feel, cry, manage emotions and move forward with self-compassion,” she said in an interview last October. “I believe it is in adversity that we often find our deepest strength. Life’s challenges remind me how important it is to persevere, to have hope and faith in the power of the human spirit.”
Now, Tatiana faces a new challenge because her ex-husband, Nicholas of Greece, has just gotten engaged to Chrysi Vardinogianni, a member of one of the great Greek oil and shipping sagas. The wedding will be next February 7 and all eyes are on the Venezuelan, who has not lost the title of princess but could do so with this new link.
The former daughter-in-law of Ana María de Grecia draws strength from weakness and faces adversity with the best of smiles, although she confesses that there are nights when it is difficult for her to fall asleep: “I talk about exercise, breathing, community and food to well-being, but the pillar of health that is most difficult for me to achieve, ignored by many and that has been the most difficult to conquer is: sleep. I would love 2025 to be the year in which I achieve. ‘made friends’ with sleep,” she wrote on social networks. “It’s not so easy to sleep when you can’t consciously control what’s happening unconsciously.”
