From the burofax to the interview to announce that he is staying at Barcelona

Ten days have passed since Leo Messi sent a burofax to Barcelona expressing his desire to leave under the clause that allowed him to go free before June 10 (and which his lawyers interpreted as “at the end of the season”) until you have given an interview to Goal.com to announce that you will continue in the club of his life.

This is the chronology of the events:

Tuesday, August 25: The case explodes with the news of the burofax sent by Messi to the club and that same day the world of football convulses and the reactions do not wait. The former president of Barcelona Joan Laporta and the candidate Víctor Font, among others, ask for the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board of directors.

Wednesday, August 26: Early in the morning, Jordi Farré, another candidate, presents a request for a motion of censure at the club's offices. The desire to leave Messi is one of the main reasons for carrying out the action. Meanwhile, Messi and his surroundings are silent in public and Barcelona explains that the player still has a valid contract and that he is counting on him for the start of the preseason.

-Thursday August 27: Various media outlets claim that Bartomeu is willing to resign if Messi publicly explains that he is the problem to keep him at the club.

-Saturday August 29: Messi informs Barcelona that he will not appear for the PCR tests the following day prior to the start of training with Ronald Koeman. Messi keeps his word and since then he has not appeared for the Joan Gamper Sports City.

-Sunday August 30: LaLiga issues a statement to warn that it will not carry out the prior visa process for the player's withdrawal from the federation if they have not previously paid “the amount of the termination clause”, marked at 700 million euros, because they consider that the player's contract with Barcelona is still valid.

-Wednesday, September 2: Jorge Messi, the player's father and representative, arrives in Barcelona with the purpose of meeting with Bartomeu to find an agreed solution to the conflict. But the president, according to the player explained in the interview, only offers them two options to leave Barcelona: for a club to pay its termination clause or go to trial.

-Friday September 4: Hours before the announcement that Messi will continue at the Barça club, LaLiga and Jorge Messi exchange new communications about the player's contract. The employer is immovable in the interpretation of the same made public on August 30, and the family of the Argentine star considers it wrong. Finally, Leo Messi explains at six in the afternoon Spanish time that he continues at Barcelona to avoid taking the club of his life to trial.
