“From heaven I will cheer you up”: Atlético remembered those who died of coronavirus

Soccer returned to Wanda Metropolitano almost three and a half months after the rojiblanco stadium hosted its last game, the Atlético-Sevilla, last March 7. Was the Valladolid the rival who visited the mattress fief, totally soulless. But with feeling.

Because the mattress club wanted to remember the members who have died of the coronavirus. 71 in total, 50 of them subscribers. The names of all of them appeared on the ribon board and in the chair of the 50 subscribers there was an Atleti shirt with their name and two flowers, one red and one white.

Before that, a typhus with the motto was placed in the third amphitheater ‘From heaven I will cheer you up’, as a tribute to all the partners and mattress fans who died during the pandemic. The message was accompanied by more than a hundred Atlético de Madrid supporters' banners that wanted to leave them to shine in this match and make the players feel more clothed.

Just before the initial whistle, an emotional minute of silence was observed that was only broken by the interpretation of Atlético's anthem with a violin by Pablo Navarro, renowned mattress, with the great red and white flag of the stadium waving at half-mast.

And of course, the club also remembered the legends who died in recent months. The shirt of Radomir Antic presided over the local bench and in the box were the coats of Joaquín Peiró, José Luis Capón, Miguel Jones and the child soccer player Christian Minchola.

A great detail from Atlético de Madrid to remind people that they will not be able to vibrate again with the mattress team alive, but in the third amphitheater.
