The president of the CSD says that UEFA has not received the complaint from the RFEF for alleged government interference

“I’m worried: two weeks ago we were in a better position to organize the 2030 World Cup than we are today”

TARRAGONA, 28 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos, stressed that if the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) accepts the Council’s complaint against former RFEF president Luis Rubiales for kissing international Jenni Hermoso after the final of the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand “will be suspended sine die”.

At a press conference at the Government sub-delegation in Tarragona, Víctor Francos, who confessed to having an “obsession” with reporting “up to the minute”, said that the Government will not “be aware of or dependent on what other organizations do” in the ‘Rubiales case’.

“We do not have information on the resolution of the TAD, which has its times. We continue to think that our complaint has all the characteristics and legal grounds to be treated as a very serious offense and, at that moment, we would activate our mechanisms. We have no news from the TAD and we respect their independence. If the resolution arrives accepting our complaint, the suspension will be ‘sine die’ until the TAD resolves judicially,” he stressed.

Regarding the meeting this Monday of the acting president of the RFEF, Pedro Rocha, with the heads of the territorial federations, Francos said that he has tried to convey to them what Spanish society expects: “that the RFEF does not give the spectacle of the last Friday”. “Let’s hope they live up to it, I wish it with all my might,” he added.

“I DID NOT LIKE THE APPLAUSE OF VILDA AND LA FUENTE”

The president of the CSD expressed his “respect” for the decision of the mother of Luis Rubiales to go on hunger strike because, according to him, he cannot imagine “a mother who does not defend a child”, although he was critical of the applause from the men’s and women’s coaches, Jorge Vilda and Luis de la Fuente, at the RFEF Assembly last Friday.

“There has never been a government that decides for the selectors. I did not like the applause. Víctor Francos speaks. When talking about feminism, I did not like what was said and how it was applauded. The consequences have to be decided by the federation I am not dedicated to saying who should resign. I cannot comment on the national selectors, but I neither liked the applause nor did I like the Assembly. Some things were so sad that this cannot be repeated again, “he said.

On the other hand, the head of the CSD assured that he had “no knowledge” of the RFEF’s complaint for alleged government interference in the ‘Rubiales case’ or that UEFA had received it. “We are very calm because we are acting on the current legislation within the parameters with which we act with all the national federations. Whoever tries to transfer the problems from within is that they cannot solve the problems within,” he stressed.

In this sense, Francos declared himself calm about the participation of the Spanish team in international competitions. “Trying to say that the national team cannot play in European or world competitions let me doubt it,” he said.

On the contrary, he did admit that the options of organizing the 2030 World Cup have diminished. “I’m worried: two weeks ago we were better placed to organize the World Cup than today, but we are a stubborn government and we can explain to FIFA and UEFA that Spanish sport and football is not what it has been seen these days,” he commented. .

Francos reported that this Monday he has spoken with a FIFA vice president to “direct a situation that is not comfortable for them.” “A particular event cannot tarnish a collective objective,” he declared.

“YOLANDA DÍAZ ACTS IN GOOD FAITH”

Likewise, the president of the CSD declared himself “absolutely respectful” with the acting vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, who criticized that they could have acted more quickly in the Rubiales case.

“He acts with all the good faith in the world. If we had responded to Sumar’s first complaint, Rubiales could not be suspended. There are people who wait for us in a lack of rigor and we are in rigor. Everything he says he does for the good of Spanish football. We are doing everything we can so that things go as quickly and as well as possible”, he explained.

“It is not fair to say that we have acted later than FIFA. We could not. We demanded some measures from the RFEF and that they be implemented before the end of the Assembly. And if we were not forced to act, FIFA could act on Tuesday. Why didn’t he do it? Because he had a principle of prudence. It will be that he has acted prudently like the Government of Spain,” he added.

He would have said to Rubiales: “‘You should have left on Friday.'” “If the TAD communicates and it’s 48 hours, it won’t take 49 hours to meet. I’m calm, what I didn’t want was a formal challenge,” defended Francos, who announced that in the coming days they would notify the federations that they have to adapt their statutes to comply with parity in its management bodies. “This demonstrates the Government’s commitment to parity in the governing bodies of football and all sports,” he declared.
