MADRID, 2 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, will participate on May 3 and 4 in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) in the XXIX General Assembly of the Ibero-American Sports Council (CID), a forum that has become at a meeting point for government sports leaders from the 22 countries in the region, according to a statement.
The Training Center of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) will host the twenty-ninth General Assembly of the CID, within the framework of the American Sports Summit. The meeting will be attended by representatives of important international institutions, such as the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), the German Agency for Cooperation (GIZ), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Latin American Development Bank (CAF ), UNESCO and LaLiga, among others.
In the program of this General Assembly, the presentation of the ‘Ibero-American Sport Indicators Plan for Development’ stands out, a project elaborated in collaboration with UNESCO and the German Agency for Cooperation, after the unanimous agreement of the Assembly of the Council Iberoamerican of Sport. “This plan will have a direct impact on sports policies for the development of Latin American countries,” stressed the CSD.
“International cooperation policy in sports matters is occupying a prominent place on the agenda of the Higher Sports Council. And this is so because global challenges require collective and constructive responses, such as the ones we are debating year after year within the framework of the Council Iberoamericano del Deporte”, underlined José Manuel Franco.
The president of the CSD highlighted that Spain “assumes a high degree of responsibility within the Ibero-American community”, which is joined by “present and future challenges in sports, social and political matters”.
