Franco highlights that companies are the “great allies” for the development of sports potential

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, affirmed this Friday that companies are the “great allies” to achieve the development of the potential of sport in the conference ‘Tax incentives for sports patronage and Next Generation Aid Plan EU’, held at the La Rioja Conference Center, Riojaforum.

Organized by the Fundación Deporte Joven (FDJ) of the CSD, with the collaboration of the Government of La Rioja and the Fundación Rioja Deporte, the event was attended by the president of the CSD José Manuel Franco and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth of the Government of La Rioja, Pedro Uruñuela.

Also in attendance were the General Director of Sports of the Government of La Rioja, Eloy Madorrán, and the General Director of the Fundación Deporte Joven, Félix Jordán de Urríes, together with more than a hundred representatives of clubs, federations and sports entities, as well as the business sector in the region.

José Manuel Franco has pointed out that sport is “an indispensable industry for social development”. “And it is not only a powerful tool to guarantee a healthy life. It has enormous potential to generate opportunities in the territories where sports activities are based,” he stressed.

In this sense, the Secretary of State for Sport and President of the Fundación Deporte Joven has reiterated the commitment of the Government of Spain to “consolidate the strong relationship with companies”, which he has considered “great allies for the development of the potential sporting, economic and social that is attributed to sport”.

For his part, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth of the Government of La Rioja, Pedro Uruñuela, highlighted “the harmony between the Government of Spain and the Government of La Rioja” and underlined the need for “sport in Spain to experience a exponential growth in the quality of its clubs, coaches, judges, athletes and facilities” and for this he recalled that the administrations need to “put on the table the most effective fiscal tools so that private capital looks favorably, and also with profitability, invest in sport.

During the day, the general director of the FDJ of the Higher Sports Council, Félix Jordán de Urríes, introduced the line of business collaboration managed by the entity, together with the CSD, made up of events of exceptional public interest (AEIP) “Universe Woman III”, “ADB 2030 Plan to Support Grassroots Sports”, “Inclusive Sports II”, “New Goals II”, and the priority patronage activity (APM) “Spain Competes”.

In addition, the general director of the FDJ has detailed the section on tax benefits obtained by the companies. In the case of the AEIP, the patron companies may deduct 15% of their total spending on advertising from the Corporate Income Tax, with a maximum deduction equal to 90% of the amount of the donation made.

They can also benefit from the figure of Priority Patronage, which entails a deduction of up to 45% on the amount of the donation.

The APMs are adjusted to this same reduction formula, with the condition that the amount of the donation does not annually exceed 15% of the Taxable Income of corporation tax, and is between 150 and 50,000 euros per year and contributor.

As for the individual entrepreneurs (self-employed) participating in the program, who are taxed by Personal Income Tax (IRPF), it is also established that donations be for an amount between 150 and 50,000 euros, per year and contributor. .

In your case, the first 150 euros of the donation will entail a deduction of 85%, while, for the remaining amount of the total donation, a deduction of 40% will correspond. The deduction limit is established at 15% of the taxable income base.

The meeting also featured speeches by the Head of the Tax Planning and Legal Assistance Service of the Government of La Rioja, María del Prado Ayala, who broke down in her presentation the content and application of the Patronage Law of the Government of La Rioja , and the deputy director general of Promotion and Innovation and Sports Promotion of the Higher Sports Council, Aitor Canibe, who addressed the line of aid for sports, within the framework of the funds allocated by Europe to repair the damage caused by the crisis of the COVID-19, in his presentation ‘Sport and Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Program.
