This extreme has been confirmed by the Salernitana to the France Press agency by virtue of a clause included in the contract of Ribéry, 39, when he signed last summer with the freedom letter from Fiorentina.

La Salernitana promoted Serie A for the third time in its history in 2021 and only now has it achieved permanence in the following season. In both 1948 and 1999 his presence in the elite was fleeting as he fell immediately.

In January, La Salernitana announced in January that Ribéry, who has also played for Galatasaray, Marseille and Bayern Munich among other teams, had asked to leave in the winter market, but changed his mind and the season finally ended. Then the press reported the former French international’s desire to end his career.

“If they want me to stay, I’ll stay”

Just after ensuring the permanence, Ribéry expressed his desire to stay on May 22 to the Italian media. “There were difficult moments and good moments. Stay? If they want me to stay, I’ll stay…” he assured then.

Despite various physical setbacks, including the positive for Covid-19 in January, Ribéry has participated in 23 Serie A games with Salernitana although without scoring a single goal.
