Four months with Pellegrini: between hope and ups and downs

Four months ago Manuel Pellegrini landed at Betis as the main weapon to solve last season's problems. It was the great signing to give hope to the Verdiblanco team and after nine league games the balance leaves many ups and downs in Heliópolis: the coach found some reliability against the smaller rivals and crashed against the big ones under a gale of defects that were already looming in recent years. Nine dates without ties. Only heads and tails under the certainty that the silent objective of reaching Europe will be involved in difficulties if the Chilean does not soon find the bases to solve the great defensive deficit that this team presents again.

The club opted for Pellegrini with a clear purpose: to get more out of a squad that was considered to have much more potential than the one demonstrated last year under Rubi's orders.. After nine appointments, the unknowns remain in the air as to whether the Chilean will be able to raise the benefits of this squad. The Verdiblanco team is the team with the most goals in the First Division (17 goals against) and only glimpsed improvement in their competitive character from the four added wins. The players insisted on the need to have the word win in their heads while crossing their fingers so that the upcoming calendar can confirm that the few good feelings can be imposed on the bad ones.

Pellegrini's four months also reflected the low weight of the sports management on the pitch at the level of signings. Only Claudio Bravo has a leading role and the coach pulled secondary reinforcements to give his block more consistency. The case of Sanabria is the most significant, while his questioned defense does not vary in pieces with respect to the one he made water too many times in recent years. Pellegrini has tasks ahead. Half measures were never present in the coach's career and that is why the club trusts that the project will still hold on to the top of the classification under the experienced baton of its coach.
