Former officers of the MET, London’s Metropolitan Police, have pleaded guilty to having sent messages about Meghan Markle with “extremely offensive” racist content. This statement was made before the Westminster Court of Justice this Thursday, September 7.
In this exchange of messages between the agents there was not only content about Meghan Markle, but also about Queen Elizabeth II and the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. In one of them, a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in which they included racist comments. Also, the premier appeared with a sign that said Browning Street.
The five agents who have admitted responsibility did not belong to the MET when the notes were sent via the well-known instant messaging network, between 2020 and 2022. This case was uncovered thanks to an investigation by the BBC, which had access to some of the chats. A sixth officer, according to AP News, denied the charges.
