Follow the revolution: Cabezón is fired and Lombi will not continue

It was not going to be the last decision in the Women’s organizational structure. This Friday the club has also made official the departure of the sports director since June 2020, Raquel Cabezón.

This confirms the departure of what was one of the most iconic players in the section, when in the 90s she lifted two Queen’s Cups in one of the best moments for the blue and white women’s team, who is now experiencing the other side of football: He had not descended to Second until that 2020-21 campaign and now he must remain up to two campaigns.

Cabezón’s step has not been the best. In the 2020-21 campaign, and after the parakeet team was saved from relegation due to the pandemic, relegation could not be avoided. As happened with Francisco Rufete in the men’s, the club opted for the continuity of the sports director and the coach, but the second opportunity did not work either. A year after that decision, both leave the entity. She will be replaced by Dolors Ribalta, now an ambassador, and who was a player from 1996 to 2006.

It is not the only goodbye. Anair Lomba, who retired during the season due to injuries and who became part of the entity’s sports structure, will also leave the club on June 30 to continue training. The club considers that it is time to change management and take a new turn to face future challenges. In the coming days they will communicate who will occupy the new positions of responsibility.
