Foggia reigns in Silverstone and takes advantage of the debacle of García Dols and Guevara

Masià finishes second starting from 21st position

MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian rider Dennis Foggia (Honda) took victory in the Moto3 race of the British Grand Prix, the twelfth round of the Motorcycle World Championship and the first after the summer break, and cut points with the first two classified in the championship, the Spaniards Sergio García Dols (GasGas) and Izan Guevara (GasGas), who crashed in the final stretch of the race.

With three laps to go, the leader García Dols was left out of the fight for victory after the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) left the line and took him ahead, an incident similar to the one that ended with the fall of Guevara and Iván Ortolá (KTM) on the last lap.

The great beneficiary of all was Foggia, who with the eighth victory victory of his life cut 25 hit points from the two Spaniards. Thus, he remains third in the drivers’ standings, 42 points behind García Dols (182), while Guevara (179) remains second, three points behind.

Diogo Moreira (KTM), the first Brazilian poleman in the small category, was unable to defend his privileged position in a start in which hostilities broke out. Japan’s Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM) and Turkey’s Deniz Öncü (KTM) took the lead, but just one lap into the start Izan Guevara (GasGas) took the lead.

The one from Palma tried to escape in the lead, but a large group of riders came out behind him to frustrate his intentions. Among them, it was Dennis Foggia who five laps later managed to overtake him. The fight was soon joined by riders such as Iván Ortolá (KTM), David Muñoz (KTM) and Jaume Masià (KTM), who started eighteenth, nineteenth and twenty-first, respectively, and also Sergio García Dols (GasGas) who was missing After three laps, his plans were ruined.

It was at turn 13 when the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), winner in Assen, took the one from Burriana ahead in an action in which both went to the gravel. The outlook was clearing for Guevara, on his way to holding the lead, but another incident with Ortolá, who made the sharpener with Öncü, made him fall and not be able to finish. Neither did David Muñoz reach the finish line when he went down on the final lap.

Thus, Foggia led a podium in which he was accompanied by the Spanish Jaume Masià (KTM) and Öncü. For his part, Carlos Tatay (CFMoto) finished tenth, just ahead of Xavi Artigas (CFMoto), Adrián Fernández (KTM) was fifteenth, Dani Holgado (KTM) twenty-second, Marc García (KTM) twenty-third and Ana Carrasco (KTM ), twenty-fourth.
