Florentino's letter to Madrid members

“I wish first of all that both you and your family are doing well despite these difficult circumstances. At Real Madrid we are very aware of the harshness of these moments and that is why I want to send a message of support, solidarity and affection to those who have directly suffered the consequences of this terrible pandemic; and in a very special way to all the families that have lost a loved one.

Although little by little we are recovering a certain normality, there is still a long way to go. We must not forget that the great challenges of this situation can only be overcome with the strength that unity of all partners gives us. Soccer is being hit hard, like most of society.

During this time we have continued working to minimize, as much as possible, the great economic damages derived from the measures imposed to prevent the spread of the disease. In this process, I want to highlight the collective effort of players, coaches, executives and club employees who have given up part of their remuneration, to reduce the foreseeable economic loss.

Along the same lines, I also want to thank the generosity of the members who have approached the club expressing their intention to renounce their rights derived from the interruption of competitions. In this regard, in the next few days you will receive a communication from the club in which you will be presented with the different options offered to the paid members to compensate the amount of the matches of the 2019-20 season that will be held behind closed doors. There is already a date for the soccer league to start up again.

The matches remaining to be played will take place without our fans in the stands. For this reason we have made the decision to play in the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium in our Ciudad Real Madrid all the games in which we will play as a local team. This decision will allow us to advance in the works of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

Once again, I want to express my deep appreciation for your commitment and loyalty in these difficult times. We will remain united with the illusion that very soon we will be back in our Santiago Bernabéu stadium living the emotions that have made the Madridista feeling unique. Today more than ever I wish you and your loved ones health and hope to overcome this time of adversity.

A hug,

Florentino Pérez ”
