Finally, the Villa

The soccer team has been installed in the Tokyo Olympic Village since Monday, along with the rest of Spanish and international athletes. The players have lost comforts, because in Sapporo they were in a hotel, but it is a change they needed. Despite the fact that they will live without many of the facilities that they usually have during the concentrations in these tournaments, footballers wanted to live the experience of staying with athletes from other disciplines. Now they do feel that they are in an Olympic Games.

The negative part of Selection day was the tedious transfer from Sapporo to Tokyo, something that has become common during the days they have been in Japan. The protocols are strict, in some cases even excessive and yesterday they were delayed more than expected. The training session in Tokyo, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (local time), had to be delayed by an hour and De la Fuente lowered the intensity because the players spent most of the day traveling (even though it only takes an hour and a half from Sapporo to Tokyo by plane). It is not ideal two days before a game, but it is necessary to adapt because it is the same for everyone …

Finally, the players feel part of the Spanish expedition. During these days they have closely followed the evolution of the rest of the athletes from their hotel, the first medal, the fourth place of Mireia Belmonte … They want to experience all this in the first person, it was one of the attractions of these Games. In addition, in Sapporo they only left the hotel to go to training, because the restrictions prevented them from leaving their hotel for anything else. The atmosphere in the Villa is different and the days will become shorter and more enjoyable.
