Fidel bitter Torrecilla’s debut

Los Cármenes is still mired in depression. A depression that has lasted for more than two months. Since 2021 Granada has not won. Wear a 2022 for oblivion. Three points out of 30, bad feelings and general despair. Neither the arrival of a new coach on the bench, a Rubén Torrecilla who made his debut in First after serving in the subsidiary, nor the hopeful start, nor a full stadium could prevent Elche from plundering the rojiblanco temple and delving even deeper into the wound red and white A good counterattack culminated by Fidel and the good work of Badía were enough for Francisco’s team to be eight away from relegation and leave behind a direct rival. The alarming lack of aim and ideas sinks each game deeper into a Granada that is one point from relegation and next week visits Mendizorrotza where life is at stake.

Torrecilla and Francisco met again on a soccer field, this time as rivals. Those who in their day were teammates in Alicante and Granada 74 faced the shadow of relegation stalking their new teams: Granada and Elche. The one from Plasencia made his debut with Nasrid after the dismissal of Robert Moreno and with the team in a limit situation. Nine days without winning and the descent to only three points. Elche with a mattress of xx points, arrived in a better situation. The debutante wanted to give a new air to the Nasrids. With three central defenders, two lanes, Collado and Milla leading the charge and Uzuni and Suárez as spearheads. And, at first, the plan did not go wrong. Defending high, opening with his lanes and arriving with danger, he was able to score in the first few minutes. Uzuni did not reach Suárez’s death pass, who made a great play on the right, then Badía avoided Neva’s goal with a great hand after the cross from the other lane, Quini. The goalkeeper reappeared in a one-on-one with Suárez. They only took seven minutes and Granada seemed different. However, he once again suffered from one of the Achilles heels of his previous stage: the lack of aim. And, to make matters worse, in the tenth minute a center from Neva was taken out by Elche who mounted a book against Pere Milla to assist Fidel who opened the scoring before the Nasrid bewilderment. Nobody was in his place, a block error. The goal was like a pitcher of cold water. The red and white team came out like champagne: first they went up very hard and then they went down suddenly. Because from there, the team lost focus. All the good things done up to then disappeared. Without ideas, thick, nervous, impotent… Germán tried to get the ball over and over again without finding teammates, meaningless long passes, Uzuni and Suárez running without a head in search of impossible balls and Milla and Collado very covered. Granada did not find a way out of the quagmire and only glimpses of the media when the ball reached them shed some light on the team. Uzuni had a header that went just wide, Quini shot into the clouds in a good position… Granada was still like a fairground shotgun, which no matter how hard it fires, it doesn’t find the goal. Meanwhile, Elche had the game where they wanted and, whenever they could, they did damage on the wings and with Boyé winning long balls. He did not have to risk, the sentence could come at any moment. And so, with a desperate Granada, the break was reached.

After the restart, Granada came out again impetuous and intense. You had to draw early to get into the game. Petrovic and Collado enjoyed two very clear chances that, again, Badía took. Milla tried it from outside the area without success. The crosshairs were still off. Torrecilla changed the drawing to have more offensive power with the departure of Machís and Molina to bet on a 4-4-2. But, as in the first part, it was a champagne effect: a lot of initial foam and little else. Elche also ensured that the Nasrid team could not keep up with stops, fouls, falls and rogue actions that continually paralyzed the game. Granada wanted, but could not. Impotence would be the best definition for a team that was struggling, running, pushing, but continually getting stuck. Desese perados with the referee, the long balls and the lack of aim, those of Torrecilla, others saw how each arrival from Elche was synonymous with danger. The rojiblancos had to take risks and Elche took advantage of that to find more spaces. But Francisco’s weren’t very fine either. Given the desperation of Los Cármenes, Elche plundered the rojiblanco temple and trashed that famous phrase “A new coach, a sure victory”. Perhaps undeserved, but still defeat. Grandaa has gone a whopping ten games without winning and only has one point with respect to relegation…
