The Basque is the second casualty of the Spanish handball team in the European Championship after Miguel Sánchez-Migallón

The Spanish international Kauldi Odriozola must undergo surgery after fracturing the fifth metatarsal of his left foot and leaves the concentration of the men's handball team at the European Championship in Germany, becoming the second casualty of the 'Hispanos' after Miguel Sánchez-Migallón, and Ferran Solé will take his place in the group.
The Nantes right winger hurt himself while resting his left foot during Jordi Ribera's team's victory this Sunday against Romania (24-36) and had to leave the court in pain. Subsequently, the team's doctor, César Flores, determined the exact extent of the injury using an x-ray: fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the left foot.
Thus, the one from Zumaia will leave the concentration in Mannheim in the next few hours to undergo surgery this afternoon in Madrid. Sarrià's coach, meanwhile, has decided to urgently call up Ferran Solé, right winger from French Paris Saint-Germain.
Solé, who will arrive in Mannheim late in the afternoon, debuted with the 'Hispanos' under Jordi Ribera on November 2, 2016, and since then he has participated in most of Spain's successes, including continental titles of 2018 and 2020 and bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. He was also chosen as the best right winger of the 2018 European Championship and the 2019 and 2021 World Championships.
Odriozola's is the second loss for the Spanish team in the last 48 hours. On Saturday, left winger Miguel Sánchez-Migallón left the group after it was confirmed that he suffered a fracture of the second metacarpal of his left hand, which occurred in the debut defeat against Croatia; Viran Morros took his place on the team.
