Fernando Gómez Acebo, cousin of King Felipe VI, dies at 49

Fernando’s love life was hectic. He married for the first time in 2004 with Monica Martin Luque, a wedding attended by the emeritus and also by Kings Felipe and Letizia. The couple announced their separation seven years later due to “incompatibility of characters.”

Five years later, Fernando regained his enthusiasm alongside the Greek journalist Nadia Halamandari. They said “I do” in a very discreet ceremony held in Athens, just four days before becoming parents of their first and only child, Nicholas. Rumors of separation have followed them since 2017, although at that time they were denied by ‘Coco’ himself: “It is true that we live separately, but from there to having signed a separation or divorce, there is an abyss.” And he added: “It’s not the best situation we could be in but hey, it is what it is.
