Fernando Alonso: “Losing 60 points in the championship is unacceptable”

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) has assured that having lost 60 points in the Formula 1 World Championship, after another retirement this Sunday at the Singapore Grand Prix, is “unacceptable”, and has acknowledged that he is “disgusted” because everything has been truncated again “due to a mechanical failure”.

“Once again we have lost 8-10 points. Throughout the year there are already 50, so we add another ten again. Losing 60 points in the championship is unacceptable. I am very upset about that, because I think I had some very good benefits on my part, and again they are truncated due to a mechanical failure,” he told DAZN.

The Spaniard, who had to retire on lap 22 due to the broken engine of his Alpine when he was running sixth, also lamented that he is “changing almost everything” this year. “It’s true that both Alpines have stopped in this race, and being 13th or not finishing the race means zero points and doesn’t change much. But this year almost everything is changing for me,” he said.

“There is no time for anything, that’s the good thing,” he said positively before the proximity of the Japanese Grand Prix. “I’m looking forward to being in the car again. Suzuka is one of my favorite circuits and so are the Japanese fans. I can’t wait to get to Japan,” he concluded.
