The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) recognized that his first place in the free practice of the Bahrain Grand Prix reinforces the “process” of his new team in search of being an alternative in the recently launched World Cup, something that they will have to demonstrate race on sunday.
“Obviously it’s another step in the right direction. The car continues to feel good, but we have to wait. At the moment we don’t focus much on the times. We have to improve some things in terms of set-up,” he said this Friday in statements to Sky Sports, collected by Europa Press.
Alonso was second in the first practice sessions and finished the day on top ahead of the two Red Bulls, but he confessed that he prefers to analyze the start of the World Cup after two races. “We’re still changing a lot of things, trying to strengthen the team in all areas. It’s going to be an interesting process, but I think the team is learning every day,” he said.
“We’ll see what happens in the first two races. For the moment, it’s just a good training session,” he finished, with his feet on the ground but aware of how much he is giving people talk at the start of the 2023 season. .
