The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) indicated this Sunday that his seventh place in the British Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the Formula 1 World Championship, “is a little better” than his team expected, highlighting that ” result” above the “pace” of your car.
“I think that seventh is a little better than we were, right? In other words, that in the end the result was better than the rhythm,” Alonso commented, after the Grand Prix on the Silverstone Circuit, before the DAZN microphones. “We were slow all weekend, in all sessions, and it was no different in the race,” summed up the Asturian driver.
“We lacked rhythm at the beginning with Gasly and at the end with ‘Checo’ and Albon. But hey, we tried to stay on the track with the socks for a long time. The safety car’s start benefited us, we took the opportunity to put the soft ones on and start from there to try to maintain the position. We lost two points there with ‘Checo’ at the end, but he was going very fast”, argued Alonso.
