Fernando Alonso achieves an incredible podium in Brazil

Verstappen won his 17th race of the season

MADRID, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) got on the podium this Sunday at the Brazilian Grand Prix, after being third behind Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lando Norris (McLaren), while Carlos Sainz (Ferrari ) was sixth.

Alonso, who was coming off two retirements in Austin and Mexico, lasted the entire race in Interlagos in that third position, the maximum he could aspire to with the Dutchman and the Briton at a different pace. Where he was world champion 18 years ago, the Asturian held off Serio Pérez (Red Bull) in the last stretch.

The Mexican ended up overtaking the Spaniard on the penultimate lap, but the Spaniard regained the podium on the last lap, arriving close to the finish line, Alonso third by 53 thousandths.
