Felipe VI and Letizia, honor ceremony in Angola: the queen’s dress from Spain with Sevillian polka dots

Felipe VI y Mrs. Letiziawhich landed on Monday, February 6 after 8:00 p.m. at the Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, have begun their travel program on Tuesday, February 7. The memorial in homage to Augustine Neto, who was the first president of Angola, has been the inaugural act of the morning. They have been accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head Anthony. The monarch and his wife are in a three-day state visit, the first to a country in sub-Saharan Africa.

Inside the monument, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have placed some flowers where the mortal remains of Agostinho Neto, who died in 1979, rest. Together with two soldiers, they have observed a minute of silence. After touring the mausoleum, which houses an exhibition hall, a library, a video library and a documentation center, they have signed the Book of Honor. The construction of the Memorial was inspired by the poem by Agostinho Neto The Way of the Stars.

For this first act, Letizia has recovered the fitted dress that she wore for the first time on Jill Biden’s visit to Madrid, on the occasion of the NATO summit in 2022. The Queen has chosen a black Spanish design with showy polka dots. The dress, tight to the silhouette, shows off an asymmetrical composition of dots (or polka dots) and has a super flattering Japanese sleeve. It is signed by the Sevillian dressmaker jose hidalgo.

After this ceremony of honor, the King and Queen will move to the Presidential Palace, where the Angolan president, Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourençoand his wife, Ana Afonso Dias LourençoThey will give you the official welcome.

Afterwards, they will attend the presentation of the International University of Cuanz, which collaborates with the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (FUNIBER).
