Felipe VI and Letizia, fascinated by Sorolla in the Royal Palace: the queen rescues her leather jacket ‘by Carolina Herrera’

The Royal Palace of Madrid joins the multiple tributes in honor of Joaquin Sorollanow that a century has passed since the death of the painter of light. Felipe VI and Letizia have immersed themselves in the universe of the Valencian artist thanks to the exhibition Sorolla through the light. The exhibition, organized by National Heritage, the Sorolla Museum Foundation and Light Art Exhibitions, opens its doors to the public on February 17. It is curated by Consuelo Luca de Tena, former director of the Sorolla Museum; and by Blanca Pons-Sorollagreat-granddaughter of the painter and an expert in his work.

For this act on the cultural agenda of the Kings, Letizia has recovered from her wardrobe her bright red fitted jacket by Carolina Herrera. The piece, made of leather, has an original peplum that gives movement to the look. Felipe Vi’s wife has reissued this set in a two-tone key with a black dress and red accessories: pumps and a crocodile-print leather bag from Magrit. Also matching, the belt with maxi square buckle.

In the second half of this year the exhibition will travel to Valencia and in 2024 it will continue to other parts of Spain. The exhibition is part of the activities program 100 years of the death of Sorolla.
